Ms. Ghertz was unsure how her door broke-- though there was a sound before it malfunctioned, the springs seemed fine. She asked us to take a look.
Often, broken door springs are the culprit when a door dropping is preceded by a snap; however, that was not true in this instance. The garage door cables were both in terrible shape; one of them had fully broken, and the other was very frayed and quite close to also snapping. We were able to replace both cables, and after securing them around the drums and adjusting their length, we tested the doors to ensure they functioned safely.
